Mercedes S500 W140 (1991-1998)
Although the S-Class of the W140 series debuted in the early 1990s, it is highly sought after by collectors, and the prices of copies preserved in perfect condition are constantly increasing. In 1994, the car underwent a facelift. There were transparent lampshades of turn signals, new headlights, redesigned bumpers and new wheel designs. In the Mercedes S500, the interior after the facelift has acquired a new steering wheel and improved buttons. In 1996, side airbags in the rear doors, an improved Bose audio system and new body colors were added.

In Japan, the car was sold with a 5.0 V8 engine with 326 hp until 1993 and 320 hp from 1994. The reduction in power was due to a modification of the catalytic converter. In this Mercedes S500 model, the engine was paired with a 4 G-Tronic gearbox.

- S500 SWB - dual-zone automatic climate control, Command 5" with navigation, leather seats with electric adjustment and memory, ADS suspension (self-leveling, hydraulic), door and trunk closing, heated front seats, parking guides, since 1995 Parktronic;
- S500 LWB - equipment as in the S500 SWB, in addition, wheelbase extended by 130 mm, rear seats with electric adjustment, rear blinds, wooden inserts.

Mercedes S500 W220 (1998-2005)
The next generation of the S-Class debuted in 1998 and introduced, among others, active Distronic cruise control and the Airmatic air suspension with height adjustment in the range of 20 mm. As an option, it was possible to order an ABC suspension, which prevented overturning of the body. For the 2003 model year, the car underwent a facelift. It included a grill, headlights, front bumper and rear lights. A new steering wheel has appeared in the interior. The 4MATIC drive has been added to the offer. The Pre-Safe system was introduced, which included belt tensioners. The gearbox has also been changed.

The car was equipped with a 5.0 V8 engine with a capacity of 306 hp. Initially available with a 5 G-Tronic gearbox, and in 2003 it received a 7 G-Tronic gearbox. After the facelift, it was possible to optionally order a four-wheel drive version - 4MATIC.

Mercedes S500 W221 (2005-2013)
The S-Class of the W221 series debuted in 2005. The design was inspired by the Maybach car, which at the time represented the pinnacle of Mercedes capabilities. Airmatic suspension was used again, but the adjustment range was increased to 25 mm. In the model with a longer wheelbase, the ABC (Active Body Control) suspension could optionally be ordered. Interestingly, the car had the designation S550.
For the 2010 model year, the car underwent a facelift. The grill, headlights, rear lights, bumpers have been changed, the Command screen has been enlarged to 8" and details of the center console. Active cruise control has been improved, the Pre-Safe system has been enriched with automatic braking in the event of a collision risk, a driver fatigue monitoring system has been added, blind spot monitoring and lane keeping assistants have been optionally offered.

- S550 L (LWB) - additionally wheelbase increased by 130 mm, rear seats with electric adjustment, massage and ventilation, rear electric blinds.
