Mercedes S63 AMG W220 (2001-2002)

The Mercedes S63 AMG debuted as part of the W220 generation and only 70 units were produced. It was distinguished not only by the drive, but also by the Airmatic suspension lowered by 15 mm, stabilizers and brake discs of a larger diameter, a body with wheel arches widened by 20 mm, aggressive styling. In the Mercedes S63 AMG, the interior was trimmed with Nappa leather and enriched with carbon fiber inserts.

Mercedes S63 AMG W221 (2006-2013)

The second version of the model was already more widely available and was based on the S-class of the W221 series. The car was available with rear-wheel drive or 4MATIC. Initially, the car was offered with an engine without a turbo, but after the facelift it was changed to a turbocharged unit. The car has, among other things, adaptive Active Body Control suspension with body tilt reduction, wheel arches widened by 25 mm compared to the standard W221 and, of course, the corresponding styling package.

In 2010, the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG W221 underwent a facelift. Visual changes included a new grill, LED headlights, OLED rear lamps. After the facelift of the Mercedes S63 AMG, the engine was changed to a 5.5 V8 twin-turbo. There is also a new COMMAND NTG 3.5 system.

Mercedes S63 AMG W222 (2013-2020)

The next generation S63 AMG was 100 kg lighter than the previous one. The car was built using steel with increased strength, aluminum and composites. Magic Body Control suspension is used, which scans the road and adjusts the work of shock absorbers. The car was lowered by 25 mm from the base W222, and the wheel arches were widened by 30 mm. Optionally, it was possible to order ceramic discs with a diameter of 420 mm.

In 2017, the car underwent a facelift. The changes included the grill, Multibeam LED matrix headlights, OLED rear lamps, the engine was changed from 5.5 to 4.0 with more power and with a new 9G-Tronic box. The COMMAND NTG 5.5 system with touchpad was introduced.

• 5.5 V8 twin-turbo - capacity 5461 cm3, power 585 hp, maximum torque 900 Nm, fuel consumption in the combined cycle on average 10.1 l/100 km;

The latest generation has the designation S63 E Performance AMG, as it is a plug-in hybrid with a V8 internal combustion engine. However, it is worth mentioning that the range in electric mode is rather symbolic. The internal combustion engine drives the front axle, and the electric one - the rear. The car has active stabilizers, torque vectoring system, Airmatic adaptive suspension lowered by 10 mm compared to the standard W223, wheel arches widened by 35 mm. The car had not yet undergone a facelift.

The car has a PHEV type drive with a 4.0 V8 twin-turbo internal combustion engine. The total power of the set is 802 hp, the maximum torque is 1430 Nm. The average fuel consumption in the combined cycle is 4.4 l/100 km.
