The Mercedes G-Class in the G550 variant appeared in 2009 and was offered with a 4MATIC drive. It is based on a chassis frame structure with a ladder frame (ladder-frame) integrated into a self-supporting body, made of high-strength steel. The hood and front door are made of aluminum for weight reduction. The car has a suspension with an adaptive Airmatic system, which allows you to adjust the ground clearance in the range of 225-270 mm.
In 2012, the car underwent a facelift. Then in the Mercedes G550, the engine received a 7G-Tronic Plus gearbox instead of the existing 7G-Tronic, which reduced fuel consumption by up to 1 l/100 km. From the outside appeared a new grill, bi-xenon headlights with the optional Intelligent Light System. The interior uses the Command APS NTG 4.5 system with a 6.5" touchscreen and a redesigned steering wheel. PRE-SAFE system added.

Mercedes G550 W463 (2018-present)
In 2018, the car underwent a small revolution. The design assumptions and overall appearance have not changed much, but lighter materials have been used, and in some places also slimmer styling. The range of clearance adjustment in the Airmatic suspension has changed and is 241-295 mm.
In 2020, the car underwent a facelift. There was a new grill, LED headlights with Intelligent Light System as standard, new wheel designs, MBUX NTG 6.0 system with 12.3" touchscreen, improved steering wheel. In 2024, the R6 engine with soft hybrid technology appeared.
