Porsche 944

The Porsche 944 is the successor to the Porsche 924, was introduced in 1982 and was produced until 1991. The car was largely based on Audi components. Initially, they were offered with a 2.5 engine with 144 hp.

Model versions

Porsche 944 Turbo — As the name suggests, the car had an engine assisted by a turbocharger. Its power was 220 hp. The car had improved aerodynamics, a reinforced gearbox, better suspension and wider tires. The Turbo version was introduced in 1985.

Porsche 944 S - this version was also more powerful than the base one, but the power gain was achieved naturally, without recharging. The 190 hp engine was the first in the 944 to have 4 valves per cylinder. The S variant appeared in 1987 and was equipped with, among other things, 2 airbags and ABS.

Porsche 944 Turbo S — the car was introduced in 1988 and had a power raised to 247 hp.

Porsche 944 S2 — is a variant that appeared in 1989 with a 3.0 engine with 208 hp under its hood.

Porsche 944 Turbo S Cabriolet — as the name suggests, is a Turbo S model in a convertible body. This is the rarest version, and only 625 copies were produced. Engine power was 250 hp.

Porsche 964

The Porsche 911 of the 964 series was produced for a very short time, as it was produced between 1989 and 1993. In total, more than 63 thousand units were produced. In this model, the Tiptronic transmission and the ability to order all-wheel drive appeared for the first time. The car had 85% new parts compared to its predecessor.

Model versions

Porsche 911 Carrera 2 and 4 — the car was offered in targa, coupe and convertible bodies. A boxer engine with a volume of 3.6 l and a capacity of 250 hp went under the hood. The engine was not the only novelty, because in relation to the previous generation, Porsche redesigned the suspension, added electric brake assistance, an ABS system and even an electric spoiler.

Porsche 911 Carrera RS — This model appeared in 1992, was lightweight, rear-wheel drive only and based on the Porsche 911 Carrera Cup racing model. Engine power was raised to 260 hp, the suspension was lowered by 40 mm and... the electric power steering was removed.

Porsche 928

The Porsche 928 is perhaps the most prized model of all those without the 911 designation. It was produced from 1977 to 1995 and each time it was powered by a V8 engine. He was named Car of the Year in 1978. The car underwent only one facelift, and it took place in 1987.

Model versions

The car appeared in the base version and S, S4, GT and the most powerful — GTS. In the latter, a 5.4 V8 engine with 350 hp came under the hood, which provided acceleration to a hundred in 5.4 s. In total, more than 61 thousand cars were produced, and the rarest versions were CS and SE. They were lighter than the standard 928, had a reinforced gearbox and shorter gear ratios. They were the prelude to the GT and GTS versions.
