Why do the Japanese care so much about cars?

Anyone who has had the opportunity to drive through the streets of Japanese cities, surely noticed that the inhabitants of the Japanese Isles care very much about the technical and visual condition of the car. This applies not only to the external appearance, but also to the interior. The Japanese are an honest, orderly and solid nation. Drivers there drive legally, and further statistics indicate a decreasing number of incidents on the roads. A high driving culture is always reflected in the technical condition of the car. Therefore, cars imported from Japan are mostly accident-free cars and in excellent technical condition.

Despite the fact that Japan is one of the world's automotive giants and the homeland of brands such as Mazda, Nissan or Suzuki, owning a car in this country is much less common than, for example, in Poland. In Tokyo, there are 308 cars per 1000 inhabitants, in Warsaw there are as many as 600 cars for the same number of residents. This means that in Warsaw we will meet the owner of the car twice as often. On the other hand, we will see many more premium cars on the streets of Japan - the Japanese love cars and care about them, because in this country they are a luxury good.

Car reviews in Japan

We have already mentioned that in Japan a car is a luxury good. Let's clarify - for the Japanese the problem is not the purchase of the car itself, but its maintenance. Often on Japanese auction sites we find hot offers of cars for sale. Often the reason for the lower price is that the inspection or insurance of such a vehicle ends in a moment. A review of a premium car in Japan costs about PLN 8,000 and is done once every two years. This amount also includes basic insurance, which, however, often does not meet the expectations of the car owner and it is necessary to extend the policy. Japanese car inspections are very restrictive and detailed, there are practically no chances for a car with any malfunction to pass them. Finally, we will add that in this country you are unlikely to meet the proverbial Henek mechanic in the workshop, who will conquer your review for 100 zlotys.

How do Japanese people care for cars?

The rule is simple — the more something has cost you, the more you care about it. Therefore, the Japanese regularly wash their cars and use car cosmetics. Waxing and refinishing paint is a normal practice in Japan, as is the use of car plastic detailers or car upholstery fresheners. The meticulous approach of the Japanese to the visual condition of the car, well reflects the local auto detailing market.

Auto Detailing in Japan

Japan is the forerunner of what we now call auto detailing. It was Japanese companies that for years set trends and standards in the production of automotive cosmetics. In the offer of local companies you will find a wide selection of car cosmetics, and in many detailing studios you have to make an appointment and wait in long queues. Japanese automotive cosmetics manufacturers were among the first in the world to use nanotechnology in their products.

Nanotechnology makes it possible to create nanometric structures at the level of atoms and molecules - doesn't this phrase best express the detail that the Japanese are characterized by? We will translate them into a simpler language. Thanks to such a production model, local companies were able to create coat-generating cosmetics with a certain composition and properties. Such a coating allows, for example, to create cosmetics such as:

  • invisible wipers — hydrophobic coating on the window reflecting water droplets,
  • preparations that protect the varnish — e.g. ceramic coating,
  • tire care products — a coating that protects rubber from oxidation and UV rays.

The well-developed market of modern car cosmetics, combined with the high driving culture and detail of the Japanese, has a beneficial effect on the technical condition of local cars!

Car Repairs in Japan

As you probably already guessed, car repairs in Japan are not among the cheapest. A few paragraphs earlier we also mentioned how expensive and detailed the reviews there are. Therefore, the Japanese are unlikely to wait with the repair of faults until the moment when the technical condition of the car prevents further driving. If the indicator lights or anything else starts to signal that something bad is happening to the car, go straight to the mechanic. As we all know, it is cheaper to repair a fault at an early stage than if we let other parts of the system in the car fail.

Is it worth buying a Japanese car?

In our opinion, definitely yes! Cars from Japan We've been bringing in for a while. Our customers praise their excellent technical and visual condition. The cost of bringing such a car is often offset by a much lower starting price. Cars from this region can be a more affordable alternative to cars from the European market.
